What is The Little Bus That Could? It is a special program sponsored by Rebuilding Families Inc (RFI)…a nonprofit organization whose sole purpose is to assist female offenders prepares for successful transition back to their families and communities. Research demonstrates that the desire for family reunification is perhaps the strongest motivator for former offenders to transition successfully back to the community. Thus this busing program has been developed to provide free transportation for loved ones so that they can visit their incarcerated mothers, daughters, sisters and friends at both Mission Creek Corrections Center for Women in Belfair and Washington Corrections Center for Women in Gig Harbor.

RFI intends to support a minimum of three family friendly events a year at each prison. By chartering tour buses Little Bus Volunteers can pick up family members up and down the I-5 corridor and transport them to and from the prisons.

The Northern Bus starts at Bellingham Park and Ride, progresses to Burlington, Everett, Northgate, and Kent-Des Moines Park and Rides to the prisons and return.
